As Jane Lynch scolds us, “Do you know what it is?” in a very Sue Sylvester-esque voice over the phone, we are filled with glee (sorry, had to). She’s referring to The Trevor Project. “It’s a suicide hotline,” she explains.

We’re on the phone with the star of both Fox’s Glee the 2013 remake of Annie on Broadway (she plays the “evil” Miss Hannigan), because she is hosting the TrevorLIVE New York event tonight at Chelsea Piers in NYC. She will be joined at the annual event by stars like Joy Bryant, Nathan Lane, Sara Bareilles, and DJ Kiss, who will be celebrating the organization’s life-saving network for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in crisis.

Lynch, who is openly a lesbian and on a hit show that explores the relationships of gay and questioning teens, is the perfect face for this cause. We were thrilled to speak with her about hosting the event, her friendship with Matthew Morrison, and starring on The Great White Way.

Britney Spears has that loving feeling on her brand-new single, “Ooh La La.” The singer officially released the Dr. Luke-produced tune on Monday, serving as the lead single off the “Smurfs 2″ soundtrack.

With its bouncy beat, the track has a summery vibe as Britney sings about her crush in her signature coo: “Ooh my my baby don’t be shy/ I see that spark flashing in your eye/ My heart beats fast ’cause I want it all/ So baby come with me and be my ooh la la.”

While the poppy track remains family-friendly and lighthearted, there is some edge thrown on there as it breaks down and gets synthier towards the end for the bridge section. In addition to working with Luke, she also recruited Ammo and Cirkut as well Bonnie McKee, J Kash, Lola Blanc and Fransisca Hall. The film opens July 31.

So, what does it all mean? Well, Spears called into Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show to explain. “Yeah it’s definitely straight-up pop and it’s really has a young feel to it,” she explained. “But the main reason why I did it was because my boys. They’re obsessed with the Smurfs. We’ve seen ‘The Smurfs’ movie a million trillion times and they were told they could be in the video and all this cool stuff, so that’s the reason why I did it. It’s about feeling good. Like when a guy makes you giddy. It’s more of a feeling. When I eat chocolate I have that ‘ooh la la’ feeling.”

The Marc Klasfeld-directed music video, co-starring her sons Jayden James, 6, and Sean Preston, 7, will premiere in the coming weeks. “[My sons] were actually really, really good on set,” Britney said. “They play themselves … [but when] we did the actual shoot of the video I didn’t see [them]. I was in hair and makeup, so later on I got to see what they actually did on camera and it was adorable.”

During the interview, Spears also danced around the possibility of taking over Las Vegas with a long-rumored residency. She played it coy, despite having opened up about it to Shape magazine earlier this spring, sharing “It’s quite possible, yes. Yes, nothing confirmed, yet.”

And while “Ooh La La” is for her boys, she clarified that her upcoming album, which she is currently working on with will.i.am serving as executive producer, will be for her adult fans.

“Well it’s definitely the beginning stages right now. I want to take this album and have a new approach with it and make it different from anything I’ve ever done,” she explained about her follow-up to 2011′s Femme Fatale.

She continued, “There’s a lot of guitar and I think people will be surprised with this album. Actually I think William Orbit [Madonna's producer] is coming in next week for me to work with. I’ve never worked with him before; I’m really excited. I think the kids will appreciate it but I think it will have a cool approach to it. [it should be out] by the end of the year.”

This week on MasterChef, the kitchen gets a musical makeover as the contestants are challenged to cook a meal for the cast of Glee.

To get into the spirit of Wednesday’s mash-up episode — which no doubt came from Mr. Schue writing a single word on the white board and then circling it for effect — the judges of MasterChef (Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich) got decked out in their finest McKinley High getups and sidled up to Jane Lynch’s Sue Sylvester in this exclusive photo.

The essential letterman jacket, tracksuit and, of course, a Cheerios uniform look great on these judges, no? Gordon Ramsay makes a delightful parallel to Sue Sylvester; both specialize in temper tantrums, after all.

MasterChef airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.

At one point, a fan stopped her in the street and offer her a hug and she obliged.

The actress revealed her marriage is over on Monday but insisted they still ‘care very deeply’ about one another.

The reigning U.S. Open champion played against his coach Ivan Lendl in a charity match that raised $1500,00 for the hospital where his good friend and doubles player Ross Hutchins was recently treated for cancer. And all Murray wanted to do, besides the charitable good deed, was to hit the taciturn Lendl with a ball. He got his wish.

“The winning was irrelevant,” Murray said with his patented smirk after the match. “I was just happy to hit him. It was a great shot, as well. I hit it so clean, so clean.”

In case Murray’s happiness wasn’t evident in the quote, take a look at his reaction. It was all in good fun, of course, but it couldn’t have felt bad to get one in on the hard-driving Lendl.

“He will be lucky to make it until next Monday,” Lendl joked after the match.

Since Lendl joined Murray’s team, the Scotsman has a Grand Slam and Olympic title. His forehand doesn’t look too bad either.

We’re used to seeing him as musical maestro Kurt Hummel in Glee but 23-year-old Chris Colfer admits he never even wanted to pursue singing professionally – and the role that catapulted him to fame wasn’t even the part he auditioned for.

“Originally I auditioned for the role of Artie, the boy in the wheelchair, and I came in and they were reorganising some characters, and they were like, ‘we want you in the show, not as that character, but we’ll create you a role and you’ll do it’.”

While he’s now an all-singing, all dancing part of the Glee club, Chris admits music wasn’t necessarily the direction he planned to take.

“As a kid my and my older cousin sang in my grandmother’s church, and she moved away, so my grandmother said, ‘it’s your turn to sing in church,’ and so I’d sing in church. In high school and in school plays I had to sing, but it was something I never wanted to pursue, I just knew it was something I could do if I had to.”

Chris added: “It’s funny because I feel like I’ll always be labelled the signer for the rest of my career and it’s funny it not a thing I wanted to pursue.”

Nevertheless, the part of Kurt Hummel has won Chris multiple awards, with the actor garnering both critical and popular praise for his portrayal of Hummel.

But that’s not where his talents stop; Chris is also a New York Times No 1 best-selling author, with his book The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell shooting to the top of the charts.

“I think that was just something that was on my bucket list ever since I was a little kid and thanks to Glee all of us have these opportunities open to us. It’s a story I’ve wanted to tell since I was little,” Chris explained of the book, which continues the plots of fairytales we we’re all told as children.

“I was always interested as a kid what happened after the happily ever after and [in terms of] the bad guys I never believed someone was bad for no reason, so I came up with stories in my head about why they were bad, and why the evil queen in Snow White as obsessed with vanity and lugged the mirror around.”

Chris has also been keeping himself busy by writing and starring in his very own film, Struck By Lightning.

“I like dipping into many things. I love writing, you get to maintain control of the story and I think as an actor if you write your own roles it’s great because you never have to ask anyone questions about the characters.”

So what’s next on the agenda for the ambitious young star, aside from shooting series five of Glee?

“Many more movies, a few more books. I’ve written three books and I’ve done quite a bit ,but I still a few more I want to do.”

Chris’ next book The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns is out on August 6 in the UK.

Lea Michele is normally the one to set the red carpet alight with her choice of outfits, but last night, all attention was on Lea’s Glee cast mate Naya Rivera when she attended the MuchMusic Awards with her beau Big Sean last night.

The actress looked smoking as she walked the red carpet in Toronto with her rapper beau in a sheer black jumpsuit which featured net detailing – of the same colour – which covered her important assets. Her choice of outfit also showed off her amazing figure which Big Sean looked only too happy to hold onto.

Having posed for the camera side by side, the couple also put on a PDA as Big Sean was pictured nuzzling Naya’s neck.

Taking to Twitter to express her excitement for the awards show, the actress who plays Santana Lopez on Glee, tweeted: “Hello Toronto! Super excited for the MMVA’s tomorrow!”

She later expressed her love for her man by posting on the social networking site: “I ❤ BS”, before informing her fans and followers when she was preparing to get red carpet ready. She posted: “Ready…Set…PRIMP! #MMVA2013.”

Following the speculation surrounding their romance, the couple confirmed their relationship at a premiere in Los Angeles earlier this year when the couple showed off their romance when they walked the red carpet for the premiere of 42 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in LA.

The Indian equity benchmarks gained close to 2 percent on Friday in anticipation of a rate cut after May inflation eased further to 4.7 percent. Short covering and positive global cues also added to the zeal driving the Nifty above 5800 at close. BSE Sensex advanced 350.77 points to close at 19177.93 and the Nifty rallied 109.30 points to 5,808.40.

The market will be carefully eyeing the RBI credit policy. A CNBC-TV18 poll of bankers and economists show that 70 percent of the respondents do not expect RBI to cut repo rate or the cash reserve ratio (CRR). Only 30 percent respondents expect a 25 basis points rate cut in the upcoming policy.

US Markets

Markets closed out a volatile week on Wall Street broadly in the red led lower by banks, as investors digested a batch of mixed economic reports and remained on edge as concerns lingered over whether central banks will pare back their stimulus programs. Adding to woes, the international monetary fund (IMF) revised its US growth outlook for 2014 down to 2.7 percent, while maintaining the 2013 guidance at 1.9 percent. 

The consumer sentiment retreated to 82.7 in June after hitting its highest in nearly six years in May. Producer prices rose more than expected in May, with the producer price index gaining 0.5 percent while industrial production was unchanged. And current account deficit (CAD) widened in the first quarter to USD 106.1 billion

Other Markets

European markets ended flat, paring gains after mixed economic reports from the US failed to calm nerves about the Federal Reserve’s bond buying program.

The FTSEurofirst 300 index closed provisionally up 0.2 percent at 1,176.1 points, following a volatile session. However, the index closed lower.

Asian Markets

Japan markets were up nearly 2 percent, while trade in the rest of Asia’s equity markets was subdued ahead of this week’s Federal Reserve policy meeting. Japan’s Nikkei added 160 points, South Korea’s benchmark was steady at the 1,890 mark.

Other asset classes

In the currency space, the euro stays above 1.33 to the dollar ahead of the US Reserve Fed meet this week. The dollar index is below the 81 mark. The dollar-yen is sub 95.

In commodities, Brent Crude hit a nine-month high, rising above 105 dollars per barrel.

And from the precious metals space, gold is hovering around 1388 dollars an ounce.

Stocks in news

MM has announced a multi-structured deal entering into a share swap with Spain’s CIE Auto buying 13.2% stake in CIE automotive. The company will fund this buy via selling stake in three group firms to CIE.

Tata Motors’ JLR wholesale numbers came in slightly below estimates as its total sales up 8 percent month-on-month (M-o-M).

Long before became known as Will Schuester — the lovable Spanish teacher and show choir director on TV’s Glee — Matthew Morrison was dancing and singing, garnering Tony nods for his work on the Broadway stage.

Through it all, there was one song he always kept at the ready: “On the Street Where You Live” from My Fair Lady.

“It is actually the song I sang for every single audition I’ve ever had in my life, including Glee; that is like my go-to audition song,” Morrison says. “It’s got a great story — it’s about a guy who is in love with a girl, but that girl doesn’t know or care that he’s alive. This guy is suffering, but he suffers so beautifully that you almost don’t want it to end. … It’s just good storytelling. You don’t find that in music so much these days. I feel like I can act these songs, and that’s a great power to have on stage.”

A pepped-up version of “On the Street Where You Live” appears on Where It All Began, Morrison’s second solo album of show tunes and American standards. He discusses it here with NPR’s Jacki Lyden.
