Archie, pals to find ‘Glee’ in crossover

The kids from Riverdale are no strangers to high propagandize angst, worries about wise in or music. Neither are a teenagers from “Glee.”

Now, Archie, Betty, Veronica and proprietor child talent Dilton Doiley will compare wits — and maybe a outspoken or dual — with a likes of Finn Hudson, Kurt Hummel and Rachel Berry in a pages of “Archie Comics,” pronounced Jon Goldwater, a co-chief executive officer.

Goldwater denounced a designed partnership — dubbed “Archie Meets Glee” — on Monday, forward of Wednesday’s start of Comic-Con in San Diego.

He pronounced a crossover between a Fox uncover and a comic book is set for late this year or in early 2013, and is being created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, one of a radio show’s writers. It facilities mixed characters from a long-running comic book and a Fox uncover now in a third year. Dan Parent is illustrating a story.

“I’ve turn accessible with Roberto — he’s only a talent writer,” pronounced Goldwater, who met a playwright final year during New York Comic Con when he stopped by Archie Comic Publications Inc.’s booth. “He and we were sharpened a breeze.”

That revisit sparked a loyalty and, ultimately, a suspicion for a crossover.

“It turns out he’s been a fan of Archie for years. His many new Halloween costume? He was dressed as Archie!” Goldwater said.

Aguirre-Sacasa pronounced a event was something he could not pass up, either.

“I’ve been wanting to write something for Archie Comics perpetually and my favorite Archie stories have always been those uncanny crossovers like ‘Archie meets a Punisher’ and ‘Archie meets KISS,’” he said. “I thought, ‘Archie meets Glee’ would be a good crossover given they’re both set in high schools, they’re both optimistic, they both engage singing.”

For now, Goldwater said, a tract of a four-issue story arc in “Archie Comics” is a closely-held secret, though it does engage together dimensions, dancing and some critical singing, too.

It’s also a latest step for a publisher, that has stretched a cocktail informative offerings over only Jughead, Midge and Mr. Weatherbee.

In a past dual years, Archie Comics has brought in an openly-gay character, Kevin Keller; been visited by a rope Kiss; and seen Archie marry Valerie, a bassist for Josie and a Pussycats, and have a daughter with her.

“Those have reintroduced a lot of people behind to ‘Archie,’” Goldwater said. “And it’s non-stop a whole new universe of people entrance to ‘Archie’ for a initial time, too.”

Goldwater pronounced that in a march of his review with Aguirre-Sacasa, it was clear both “Glee” and “Archie” had some common belligerent notwithstanding entrance from decidedly opposite mediums, including a different array of characters, conditions and concerns.

“‘Glee’ is bold in their story lines and how they paint their characters, how they paint a high propagandize situation,” he said, observant that it’s identical in a universe of Archie, too.
